Travels...And Summertime Fun!

With summer here our RV is back on the road. Our Grandchildren have been busy too.  There has been so much going on -  it's been a wonderful summer and I realized I haven't been blogging much and sharing some of the fun stuff we've been doing.  This is going to be a really long post - I'm going to share!!

Hershey PA011 copyWe just got back from Hershey, PA with Lindsey and Amelia - what a fun trip.  This was our first time at the Highmeadow Campground and the Hershey Park.  I highly recommend it for family's.  This photo is in front of the Hershey Chocolate Factory.

Hershey PA082

This is the Boardwalk at Hershey Park - get wet & wild!!

The water, waves and seagull sound effects was quite a relief from the 95 degree temperatures we were having on our trip.  I recommend going on a Monday - it wasn't overly crowded.

ATSDTC09003 I did sneak in a little card making.  This little guy would have had the best time at the Boardwalk.  He's one of the new stamps from C.C. Designs over at All That Scraps.  Isn't he a cutie!!

Amelia Lake Farmpark001

Off To Lake Farm Park!  Everyone was invited to Amelia's last day on the farm for an animal presentation and farm tour.

Had to get a photo of this young lady - she was huge - but oh so CUTE!!

There is this wonderful playground in Middlefield - great playground equipment and two fun areas for some cool water fun!!!  A little time with that cutie - JOEY!!! Joey Splash014 copy Joey Splash004

We've been doing lots of bike riding here in Ohio and PA.

Peninsula018

If you haven't been down to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Peninsula your missing one of our beautiful gems here in Northeast Ohio.

The little friend on my bike seat is my Geocaching Buddy.  Hummmm...Geocaching - what's that?!?

Anyway, while your biking or hiking on the trail in Peninsula make sure to stop for some roasted corn and fresh squeezed lemonade at Szalay's Market Stand - unbelievably good!!

Confluence PA010 Confluence PA020

Geocaching on the National Road in Addision, PA.  (There's that word again ... geocaching!!)

You can see my friend found the cache!  Pictured behind him is an original Toll House  - this is from the horse and wagon days.  You had to pay a toll even if you were using the road for your livestock - you paid per head!!  If you refused to pay you were fined - not sure how that worked!

We camped at the Outflow Campground in Confluence, PA - directly on the Youghiogheny River.  We were nestled in the bed of green mountains with the flow of the river outside our window and the faint sound of trains in the distance - beautiful spot!  This is about 10 miles from Ohio Pyle State Park where lots of people go white water rafting.  As luck may have it we were right on a 136 mile bike trail.  This was a rail-to-trails trail which is perfect for biking or hiking.  You ride down the trail with huge rocks going up the side of the mountain covered in Mountain Laurel, with an occasional spring waterfall that is safe enough to drink from. As you ride you follow the rush of the Youghiogheny River and the trains thundering by with a loud echo in your ears.  Highly recommend this trip! Confluence to bridge015 Confluence PA006

Life's A Jungle

Paper of Plastic!?!  My biggest problem is remembering to put my re-usable fabric bags in my car and take them into the store - I'm forever buying more - my challenge is to remember my BAGS!!!!

This card is from the Sketch Challenge last week over at Splitcoaststampers.com - it also covers the Ways To Use It Challenge.  The Ways To Use It Challenge was fun - you had to put a spice on your card - I used Parsley for the grass.

This little gator is from the Stamp of the Month Set that Close To My Heart puts out every month - isn't he the cutest.

But ... did you notice he's having a little problem?!? He has that dumb old plastic bag from the grocery store stuck around his middle ... poor little gator!!!
Stamps: Close To My Heart Life's A Jungle, Stampin' Up! Cheesecloth Background
Paper: Watercolor, Black, Stampin' Up! Wasabi
Ink: Black, Versamark

Accessories: Plastic Bag, Stampin' Up! Ribbon, Cuttlebug, Bronze Embossing Powder, Zig Zag Scissors, Stampin' Up! Watercolor Crayons, Misc. Brads, Bo Bunny Brads, Circle Punch, Spellbinder Oval & Scallop Template

Lifes A Jungle SC185004

Lifes A Jungle SC185005

There is a little symbolism here that I would like to mention just incase you missed it.  The Cheesecloth embossing represents the web that's been created by the inhabitants of the earth - our throw away lifestyle.  The zig zag scissor cutting represents the many points that can be made in favor of trying to keep our planet healthy.  The gator represents the innocent animals that our suffering due to our ignorance.  The plastic bag represents the danger that we put the earth and animals in when we add them to our throw away trash... the little green leaves represents the HOPE that we can create.  "Life's A Jungle" - sort of says it all.

You're Kittiness

I love the name of this stamp set.  When I was a little girl my Grandmother had this wonderful Siamese cat - Pretty Boy. Pretty Boy was huge and lovable!! He would follow me every where, let me dress him in doll clothes and find me when I would hide (I hid with a little piece of shrimp to give to him when he found me). Loved that kitty - wonderful memories.

This little cutie is painted in honor of my Pretty Boy - yes - I realize she's a Princess but Pretty Boy was my Prince.  This is a new release from C.C. Designs over at All That Scraps - she comes with a friend - go check her out!!!

Happy Birthday Phil

Made this manly birthday card for my DSI - today was his birthday.  Not to tell tales out of school but Julie and Phil had to cut up one of those big wooden playground sets to put out for the Chardon Trash Day - they only had a small, skinny bladed hand saw.  So guess what's inside Phil's Birthday card - yep! - a Home Depot Gift Card!!  Hope he liked his birthday card!?! Handy Man Jack CC170001

This is "Handy Man Jack" - isn't he just the cutest and looking pretty handy with that hammer in his hand.  Jack was created by Christine from C.C. Designs - you can find him over at All That Scraps.com along with more tools and friends.

I love paper piecing these cute people that Christine creates - so you'll notice Jack's pants, t-shirt, shoes and board are all stamped on other paper.  After stamping I carefully cut them out and glued them in place.

This was also for the Color Challenge over at Splitcoastampers.com - that's why your seeing the coral color with the red on this manly card.

(Color Challenge: Real Red, So Saffron and Regal Rose - I needed to subsitute with what I had.)

Stamps: CC Designs Handy Man Jack, Close To My Heart Express Postage & Works Alpha
Paper: Real Red, Barely Banana, Cameo Coral, Close To My Heart Denim & Wood Designer Paper, Watercolor Paper
Ink: Black
Accessories: Close To My Heart Pewter Brads, Stickease Ruler; Stampin' Up! Circle Punch, Watercolor Crayons; Spellbinder Cirlce Template

With Love

Back down in the basement.  Time sure flys by - between being sick, garage sales, enjoying summer and family the time surely slips by.  Anyway enough of that - I've made a few cards recently that I haven't shared with you yet - so let's get to it!

This card is for the Card Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.com - it's a really great layout - I can see many possibilities with this sketch.  Also what was fun, practically all the product that I used was all Close To My Heart.  The Close To My Heart Stamp of the Month for June is "With Love" - that's the set I worked with today.  The sentiment stamped on the top of the card "Happy everything" is so perfect for any occassion - how clever of Close To My Heart to do that. With Love SC180002

Another new product I used on the card is the Close To My Heart Ric-Rac Ribbon Round in Sweet Leaf and Corn Flower Blue Ric-Rac match this card perfectly!

Check out the vase and flower - I added a little shean to them by painting over the stamped image with the Close To My Heart Pearl Paint.  It's a sheer paint that can be used alone or mixed with other paint or re-inkers.

OK - you've GOT TO check out the cool HOW-TO video's over at the Close To My Heart.com website.  There is one on advanced stamping techniques and one on making a mini card album.  I hope Close To My Heart continues to add more video's in the future - what a great tool!

Here's a look at most of the supplies I used to make this card today - all the cardstock is Close To My Heart cardstock.  I used punches from Martha Stewart (the tag) and Stampin' Up! (the slot and circle) and the Swiss Dot Cuttlebug Embossing Plate on the Pansy Purple and Sweet Leaf Cardstock.

With Love SC180006 IMPORTANT NEWS:  Close To My Heart is running a fantastic special this month "Stampaganza" - buy two My Acrylic Stamp Sets and receive a third set for FREE!

Hey Baby!

Pinup Girl PPRS How did you do that?  Remember "Frankie" from C.C. Designs - how her pants matched the designer paper - would you like to know how I did that.  It's so easy! Stamp the image twice - once onto your plain cardstock and once onto background paper.  With a really great pair of small craft scissors - like Close To My Heart Micro-Tip Scissors - cut out the parts of the stamped image you want to piece.

The swimsuit for the Prickley Pear "Pin-Up Girl" has been paper pieced twice.  The swimsuit has been stamped on the light green designer paper and then again onto a peach designer paper. Her suit was carefully cut out with the micro-tipped scissors - cutting on the outside of the image - glued the pieces down with Tombo Mono Aqua Liquid Glue.  Repeated the process with the swimsuit flowers and bow.

The girl is stamped onto Stampin' Up! Watercolor Paper and colored in with Stampin' Up! Watercolor Crayons.  The center of the flowers have been filled with Stampin' Up Green Micro Beads (used the Tombo Liquid Glue).

A big thank you to Kathy for the cute little glass beads that are mounted to either side of the image.  Kathy gave me these beads about three years ago - I knew one day I'd use them.  The beads are glued into place with Stampin' Up! Mini Glue Dots.

Finally, the the layout for this card was from the Sketch Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.com today.  Make it a great one - get out there and create!!

Stamps: Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps 1/2 Sheets: "Motorcylce & Pin-Up Girl" and "Flourished Tags & Sentiments"
Paper: Stampin' Up! Night of Navy, So Saffron, Watercolor - Designer Pattern Paper???
Ink: Black VersaMark
Accessories:  Stampin' Up Micro Beads (in center of flowers on swimsuit), Stampin' Up! Watercolor Crayons, Stampin' Up! Circle Punches, Glass Flower Beads from Kathy R, Close To My Heart Micro Scissors, Tombo Mono Aqua Liquid Glue, Tweezers for holding onto all those little cut pieces you glue down!

Life's A Jungle

Lifes_a_jungle_cc167002 I love this little elephant - he's from the upcoming June Close To My Heart Stamp of the Month Set - Life's A Jungle.

I know, I know - not much happening on my Blog lately - I'll try to work on that!  Since I haven't done much on Splitcoaststampers either I put three challenges together for this card.

The Color Challenge for today, A Sketch Challenge and a Ways To Use It Challenge.  The Ways To Use It Challenge was to use your scissors to either cut out an image or add dimension to your card with cut paper - so I added stems and petals to the Stampin' Up! Felt Flowers - with the addition of little buttons in the center of the flowers.

The sentiment "feel better soon" is from the May Close To My Heart Stamp of the Month Set - "Say It In Style".

The Say It In Style Set is one of those set's that is a must have - it has a sentiment covering just about any occassion or holiday.  Lifes_a_jungle_supplies001

Computer Crash and other stuff!

OMG!!!  My computer crashed a week ago Thursday.  It was the night before we were leaving on a 10-day trip to Georgia and South Carolina.  I lost EVERYTHING!!!  It's a long road back to getting things up and running.

I had purchased an air card prior to our trip and packed all types of supplies for making cards.  The plan was to create, snap a pic, load it up - all while my dear husband was driving our RV down the road.  Well, so much for those glorious plans.

Our first camping stop was Franklin D. Rosevelt State Park in PInehill, GA.  What a well maintained, beautiful park.  We arrived there late last Saturday night and had a real nice site to camp at.  Well, Sunday morning we explored a little on our bikes and and found a beautiful site with a lake view.  We headed back to our camper, packed up and moved to the new site.  Perfect - bacon, eggs and a beautiful view.  THEN - the PERFECT site opened up - so after breakfast we moved once more to our final spot - right on the edge of the lake.
