Sending you sunshine!!

How many of you are without power here in Northeast Ohio?!?  We haven't had power since Sunday - fun! Well, not really fun!!  It's amazing how fast Ike reached us - I can't even begin to image what all the poor people in the Gulf are going through.

I made this card last week - the little saying on it is more than appropriate right now!   We definitely could use a little sunshine today and have a little sunshine sent to all the folks in the Gulf.

I thought we were suppose to have a sunny day today but when I look out the window it's still very overcast and grey!! 

The little blouse and pants on the card are paper pieced.  To paper piece - you stamp the image onto pattern paper then cut it out.  Stamp the image again onto plain cardstock and glue the pattern paper pieces into place.

The stamps are from C.C. Designs over at All That Scraps.  I can't get my computer to pull up two sites right now  (I'm running on the generator in our motorhome.) But if you head on over to AllThatScraps.com you can find her under the C.C. Designs Section.

Who?!?

  Owls ... Owls ... Owls .... and then again a few more owls!! Teehee!!

I love how this card turned out.  I tried to keep it simple - which you know is hard for me.  I used cream, white, gold and brown for a monochromatic look.

Sunday's Challenge at Splitcoaststampers was to be inspired by photo's from Catherine's Animals online shop.  Her photo's are of real animals and are very simple - hence the simple card.

Spot 'o Coffee Bracelet

Our need for our morning coffee runs in the family!!!  I thought it was funny that I just made the card with the little bear that needed his morning coffee then I'm over at my daughter's online shop  and see she made this really cool bracelet called Spot 'o Coffee  - that was too funny!    

ALSO - do any of you get the Mary Engelbreit Home Campanion Magazine - well (I believe) on page 2 or 3 there is an ad for this really fun  -  Artisan Westsite - Etsy!   My daughter - Julie - has her darling Owl Necklace in the Etsy ad.

Yep!  I'm a proud Mom - she makes the most beautiful pieces - you really need to just take a peak at her shop to be inspired.  Her name over at Etsy is Puffluna - One of her kitties is name Puff and another one is Luna - that's where her crazy name came from over at Etsy!

What ... out of coffee!!

         There was a challenge over at Splitcoastampers.com to make a card with a coffee stamp.  Well, I didn't have any coffee stamps but I did have this really cute new stamp set from C.C. Designs. (sshhhh ... this is a sneak peak!)

Thought about this all day and this is what I came up with.  Digging through a stash of stickers I found a coffee mug sticker.  And - yes - if I don't have my coffee in the morning it's a big Eeeek!!

Congratulations to Amy Ryvasy

Amy is the Creative Director and Design Team Coordinator for All That Scraps.  But she is so much more than that - Amy's Blog Prairie Paper and Ink  has been an inspiration to thousands of paper crafters. I'm not even sure she knows this but she helped me a couple of years back answering lots of questions I had about starting my own Blog.  Thanks Amy!

I am so excited to present to you a new line of stamps created by Amy.   

On September 9th All That Scraps will be releasing the two new sets.   

These cards are made with the Amy's Boutique Set - filled with little clothing images - so cute!!

An Apple For The Teacher!

I knew the minute I saw this new stamp set from C.C. Designs over at All That Scraps.com I had to make a back to school card.  Two things that are perfect for back to school this cool $1 ribbon with the crayola crayons on it and the apple button in Olivia's hand.  

The oval and oval scallop are cut out with the Spellbinder Templates.  Olivia is stamped with Black Staz On so I can color her in with the Stampin' Up! Watercolor Crayons and I don't have to worry about the ink running.  I used the scallops as a guide for adding little black dots around the cream oval.

The apple is attached with a glue dot.  The card is cut lenthwise with a top fold to measure at 5-1/2 by 4-1/4 when folded in half.  Then cut 1/4" from the bottom then attached it to a 5-1/2 by 4-1/4 black mat.  Using the NEW Stampin' Up! Scallop Edge Punch I added a scalloped edge to the bottom of the card - this is cut out separately then glued on.

Fun News!

A while back I had submitted two cards to the Stampers Sampler Take Ten Magazine.  This is a quarterly magazine that features cards that can be made in "10 minutes". 

I submitted my cards in the "We Challenge You" Sketch Challenge.  And to my surprise (I just found this out before going on our last trip) my cards were accepted and published in the Summer 2008 issue.

I can't remember if I've shared these cards with you before so I thought I'd post them again. 

Flutter - The stamps used for this card are from Prickley Pear. All the details for making this card can be found on page 21 of the magazine.

And on page 23 of the Stampers Sampler you can find the "Good News" card along with all the details for making this card.  The stamps are from Stampin' Up!

This was my first time submitting to a magazine for publication - it was really fun to have my cards published.
