Silver and Gold

I love the technique from yesterday of making starburst from the Stampin' Up! Tag Punches.   

This card has the first star I made on it but it's the second card I made with the starburst.  I used silver foil paper for the star and then glued the tags onto vellum.  Once the star was glued together and cut out I took the Close To My Heart Crystal Blue Stamp Pad  and rubbed it over the back of the vellum.

Next the silver is Cuttlebugged with the Snowflake Template (left side of card) and the powder blue is Cuttlebugged with the Distressed Stripes Template (right side of card).  The powder blue piece was then rubbed with Versamark Ink and Embossed with Close To My Heart Silver Pearl Embossing Powder. 

This cool effect with the Silver Pearl Embossing Powder shows up much better in real life. Mounted the silver foil and the powder blue onto a white cardstock matting and added Martha Stewart Snow Glitter around the edge of the white matting.  Very difficult to tell in the photo but the center of the starburst has a round punched circle that is also covered with Martha Stewart Snow Glitter.      

 To finish the card add  a ribbon, blue pin and tie a Close To My Heart Metal Charm on with Stampin' Up! Silver Thread.  Add a couple of snowflakes and gems to the center of the snowflakes on scattered on the foil. 

What's funny about the card is that it's done in silver foil but the best photo of the card looks like the card is gold.  Click on the small image to see it in silver.  Enjoy your day!  Linda

Three Bugs In A Rug Seeing Stars Workshop

There are still some spots left for this very "Boyish!" Workshop!  Ah Ha! You say you don't have any boys in the family for scrapping - not a problem - I'll show you how to make these fun pages fit into your scrapped life.  Page one has lots and lots of dangling stars that are hanging on by a thread.

The first two pages are a little more labor intensive with sewing, bows and dangling stars but not to fear you can catch your breath on pages three and four. 

Please feel free to bring any decorative ribbon that you feel might match these pages.  There will be a variety of ribbons available to you that will vary from the samples shown.

Also it might be fun to see some sparkly gems in the center of the stars - bring those too!

Lots of choices for placement of photo's on page one.  Where page two has more specific photo spots - if you'd like specific sizes please let me know. You'll find lots of hidden tags in the sewn on pocket on page two.  Dress up the pocket with the two matching Three Bugs In A Rug Brads that are mounted on a Stampin' Up punched circle and star.

There are five hidden tags for journaling or small photo's inside the pocket.  One of the tags is a large circle that I've added a Gem Snap to - the large snaps will be available for purchase on the cash and carry table or feel free to bring you own.

As promised pages three and four are quick and easy. 

Not shown but in your kit will be Stampin' Up! Spring-Summer Rub On's and Star and Hearts Chipboard.

We'll be punching stars with the Stampin' Up! Large Star and Small Star Punches and stamping with the In the Stampin' Up! Stars Stamp Set (available until May 31st). Class times, cost and supplies are listed in the Class Schedule Album on the right sidebar.

In The Muck!

Where does the process begin.  You open your monthly Scrapbook Club Kit and look at the paper - and typically I say - WOW - this is the best paper yet!  You know because it's new it's always the best paper - it's like Christmas opening that box every month.  And then it's time to scrap - one of my favorite tools to help me get my creative juices flowing is either one of the Close To My Heart "How-To" Books - Cherish {Buy It!} or Imagine {Buy It!}. 

These two pages were created with the help of Imagine - I just kept browsing through the book until I found a layout that would work with my Club Kit Paper. I had wanted to keep the tree looking like a tree and ended up with the Swing Rythm Layouts on pages 112 and 113. 

The book, the paper, the layout.  Lots of paper and embellishments come in the kit - plus I've added a few things from my stash of stuff!

What about these darling photo's - this is Amelia.  Amelia loves it when Spring gets to Grandma's House - that means the back of the yard floods into a pond and the little tadpoles start gurgling in the mucky, muddy, knee-high deep water.

Time to get the net out and start the scooping them up process.  She gathers a bunch in the net then carefully takes them out one at a time (she must talk to them or something) and lays them carefully back in the muck!

This is quite the annual process.  I'm sure all of you with little ones that love the outdoor creepy, crawling, thingys know what I'm talking about!! One year I bought a tank and attempted to raise those slippery little tadpoles into frogs.  The next year Amelia and her Mom gave it a try - I think we're all done with that process now - thank goodness!!

Close To My Heart Circle Album & Serendipity

I used the Serendipity Kit to help create the Close To My Heart Circle Album.  I love the colors of this paper and the fun flower die-cuts.  (The colors are not showing up correctly on my blog - click on the Serendipity Kit link above to really see how beautiful this paper is!)

I added a popped up Serendipity flower die-cut to the front of the Circle Album - the edges of the flower are rolled on a thin paint brush handle to give them a little more dimension, then they are sponged with Close To My Heart Chocolate Ink and finally there is a Close To My Heart 3D foam square between the two petals to add even more dimension.  What do you think? You like it?

I'm going to add a couple of the photo's from the Circle Album on the front page of the blog the rest will be in the Scrapbook Layouts Album on the right sidebar.

I've scrapped photo's of Tom and I on a crusie we took last August up the New England Coast into Canada.  I love scrapping - you re-live the moments that you've captured in your heart thru the lens of your camera.

The cover of the Circle Album is a open cut out ring - I've added Close To My Heart Dimensional Elements Chipboard so I could add a title.  The inside of the cover is stamped with the Close To My Heart Free Spirit Stamp Set (retired SOTM) - I sure hope they bring this stamp set out again this summer - I love the circle stamps in the set.  Almost all of the embellishments on the Circle Album are Close To My Heart.  The Album comes with a ring to hold it together - I removed the ring and added Close To My Heart Photo Hangers instead.  The Photo Hangers are tied together with Close To My Heart Waxy Flax and then added some Close To My Heart Ribbon to the Photo Hangers to dress it up a little.          

I love this photo - we had walked for quite aways down the beach to see two huge piles of Harbour Seals - we had to use our binoculars once we got to the end of the beach.  But even to be that close to them was wonderful - it was quite a site and is a wonderful memory.

A Present For Amelia

My darling Granddaughter Amelia will be turning seven in a few days - her party is this weekend.  Her Grandpa and I are getting her a trip to American Girl Place in Chicago.  I thought it would be fun for her to have a little pre-made scrapbook to put all her memories in.  The colors are light and springy because we're not going until June and because Amelia's a litte girl - little girls should have bright, fun things!

This is a Cosmic Cricket Cigar Box and I made the Chipboard Book with my new Nifty, Difty Bind-It All that I purchased from All That Scraps.

Daisy D's Scrapbook Workshop

Photo Sizes:  (2) 4 X 6;  (1 or 2 ) 3 X 3 (I have added a  chipboard circle where you can put your photo - or if you have a chipboard piece you'd like to add please bring it with you.)

The "Home" tag that is on the right is included in your kit as is the word "happy".  I've changed my "happy" out a little with the addition of a large Stampin' Up! letter "h", a Close To My Heart Chipboard Flower and the "p" and "y" are K & Company Chipboard letters.  You'll be using the Stampin' Up! Round Tab Punch along with a stamp to embellish the side of the Red DP under the word 'happy" - Please feel free to bring brads if you'd like - otherwise I have eyelets you can add there.  You will have a variety of ribbon to choose from to add to your pages - but if you have additional ribbon that you think would go with these colors feel free to bring that.  Some embellishments shown are not part of the kit.  Click on the Class Schedule link (on the left sidebar) to see what comes in your kit - there are two pages of photo's for this class.

 

Photo sizes:  5 X 7 and (2) 3 X 3 on the right side above the "family" tag.

The word "together" is one of the rub-on's that comes with your kit.  A variety of ribbon will also be supplied for your use.  I've added Close To My Heart Edge Anchors and will supply you with eyelets for the bottom red border embellishment.  If you have Close To My Heart Edge Anchors feel free to bring them.

I've saved the rest of my rub-on's to apply to the photo's.  And I still have quite a bit of the tags left that I might tuck in here and there.   

Just Had To Share

Renee created this darling purse for a friends Baby Shower.  (They must know that it's a girl!)  Renee used the Stampin' Up! Special Delivery Girl Scrapbook Kit and the 7 Gypsies Accordian Purse Kit along with some ribbon and charms and look what she did with it all!!  Thanks for sharing Renee - it really turned out great!

Friday, November 16th Workshop - "The Board Room"

Hints For Easily Putting Together a 7Gypsies Board Book

Mothers Hint No. 43

Start with the back pages of your Board Book and carefully insert the wire rings - making sure that the wires go through all the holes!

If your putting on the last page (this would be the front cover) and it feels a little lumpy

look at the holes - OH - did the wire miss going thru the holes on the second to last page - no problem just take the book apart and re-insert the wire binding.

Mother's Hint No. 44

Tie eight ribbons onto the wire binding to decorate your Board Book and to hold the  wire binding onto the book.  Trim the ribbons so they look nice and even.

If by chance you left the back cover in the scanner - simply remove the ribbons - take all the wire binding off of the book - so you can get to the last page (rememember Hint No. 43 - start from the back of the book) - now insert the last page onto the wire rings and re-apply the ribbon. We R Memory Keepers Pewter Press Class

Just finished adding photo's and embellishments to pages 3 and 4 for the workshop on Friday, October 26, 2007.  Thought it would help everyone to see some photo's on the pages - I did not scrap all four pages with the same events.  The first two scrapped layouts are of Amelia and the Butterfly at the Cleveland Zoo and the two that I'm showing now are from St. Martins, Nova Scotia, Canada.  After each layout I've explained what I've added to my pages and what you can expect to get in your supplies for your pages. 

Feel free to bring any supplies you'd like that you think will enhance your pages.  I've added extra embellishments that will not necessarily be supplied to you - this is all explained below.

You will also have use of a variety of Alphabets - in acrylic, rubber or sizzix - hopefully this gives you time to think of a title for your layouts.  Last thing, just got these cute Heidi Swapp Clear Corner Stamps - I've used the Travel one on the page below I also have a Family set - these will be fun to stamp onto the layouts.  See you soon!

May is National Scrapbooking Month and Close To My Heart has this wonderful 9 X 9 accordion album promotion. 

I scrapped a trip Tom and I took to Maine last year.  It took me longer to organize my photo's and print them out then it did to make the album.  Everything you see on these pages was in the kit!!!

With the left over supplies and base cardstock I made these cards.  I still have some bits and pieces left after doing all of this!

This card measures 5-1/2 X 5-1/2 so you know that the flower is huge.  The flower came in my monthly Memory Works March Express Kit as did the green ribbon and tag.  Check out the Memory Works Album - I posted cards with the paper I had left after scrapping the eight pages from the Homemade Blessings Kit.  If you want dimensions on any of the cards let me know. For the sentiments on all the cards I used the Close To My Heart April Stamp Of The Month - For Every Occassion. Hope this inspires you.

These are the pages we'll be doing in class on Friday .  The cute little chick and the little bunny are both made with punches.  Bring lots of 3-D Pop Dots to class with you - you'll be creating lots of dimension on these pages.  The page layout design and cutting directions are from Cherish - created by Jeanette Lynton founder of Close To My Heart.

Spring is in the air...

These are the pages that we just created at Remember When on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This is just two of the four pages we will be creating for the April class - the  other two pages are still under construction  .  This class is now full - thank you.  I'll be demostrating how to use the Cuttlebug and Cuttlebug Embossing folders - especially what to do when your cardstock is larger than the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder.

Both of these pages have lots of sanding on them - from top left to bottom right corner then from top right to bottom left corners - this will give you a linen look.  The tag with the date stamped on it (is Stazon Ink) and the tag that lifts the cover to the mini album are both plastic bag closures from rabbit food and bread.  You probably can't see this but there are snowflakes embossed with clear embossing powder on the background paper - this was done before it was sanded.  Also, when you scrapping punch squares from your left over photo pieces and turn them into embellishments - see the tree in the middle of the two girls that would have been rubbish at one point now it's an embellisment!

Charleston and Fleurs Des Jardins

I just love this paper - Charleston was such a beautiful city with it's Plantations and Iron Work - this beautiful victorian paper seems to do it justice.  This color is gone but I thought you could really see the beautiful design in the paper a little better.

This Little Piggy

First I need to say for those of you that don't know me my first love is scrapbooking.  But it's so easy to fall into the make a card trap - cards are much quicker then a scrapped page.   

This is for the Scrapbook Sketch Challenge http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/fo...d.php?t=227052. I'm doing an album for someone and I'm having a horrible time getting started - so this is it - the opening page. Sorry to say this paper has been in my stash for ages - I know the nursery paper is from Kay & Company and the green is from CTMH. Hope you like it and you feel inspired by it.

Where has the time gone?!?

Happy Holidays to everyone and a happy and healthy New Year - these are sincere wishes - even though they have been repeated a million times by everyone to everyone for the past month.  I do  sincerely wish eveyone the best!!

I have been incredibly busy - as I'm sure everyone else has - our Christmas was the best - we're very fortunate.  The update on Holly is that Joey is growing, growing, growing - even more so then when you saw him last time.  The date we're looking towards is the 20th or before!!

I'm not going to bore you with my computer issues - BUT - they have been a little overwhelming (SP?) to say the least!  I have some other things I've been working on that I wanted to post but will get to those later - as my organization improves here!!  LOL!!! Yea Right!!!  Anyway I finished the four page samples for the Workshop on January 9th - they are very different from anything I've done before.  Everyone will have the same paper to work with, a variety of dimensional elements, a variety of nine tags each, a yard of beautiful silky burgundy ribbon and some really pretty stamps.

I'm excited to get together - see you soon!!

Sonata Girls

Took a little midnight brake the other evening and used the new CTMH Sonata Level 2 paper pac to create this page.  Those are my beautiful granddaughters, standing among the pink lilies.  This is a pretty simple layout - cut the Sonata paper into squares and strips randomly using the different papers and attached them to the page around the photo.  Added four CTMH Window Charms in the upper right hand corner and one Window Charm over the pink lily in the lower right hand corner.  Stamped the Simple Blossoms flowers with SU White Craft Ink.  Punched names and heart out using the Sizzlits Funky Brush, glued down and covered them with CTMH Liquid Glass.  The words in the lower right hand corner- "Share our similarities" and "Celebrate our difference" are stamped in CTMH Grey Wool onto the SU Sweet Nothings Accents & Elements.  The little pink scallop is also from SU Accents & Elements.

Tom has been helping me clean and get ready for the shower on Saturday - the countdown continues.  Off to finish the tree in the foyer - then onto the bathrooms.  The worst part of this cleaning thingy is that it's taking away from my need to be down here creating - ugh!!!  But I am looking forward to the shower - it'll be fun having the party for Holly.  See you all later!!
