Did a little geocaching on the bike trails in Cape Cod. This is Doane Rock - one of the largest Glacial Rocks in Southern New England.
This was on our way up to the summit on Gorham Mountain. Almost lost Tom here - the rock was wet and he slipped - that would have definitely put a damper on the trip!!!
The summit is 524' above sea level and we hiked each and every one of those 524' plus some. The day was incredible and the hike was exhilarating.
If you look carefully you can see some crazy hikers hiking up the side of the Beehive. We were coming down from the Gorham Mountain Hike and spotted this on the way down. No, we didn't do this one - maybe next time.
It's so cool when your riding down the Carriage Trail and then all of the sudden there's a huge mountain in front of you.
When the tide is low you can hike out to Bar Island and get some great pics of the downtown of Bar Harbor. On the way back these young ladies had found some wonderful starfish along the edge of the sand bar. You have a three hour window for your hike otherwise you hike back through water.
I wish my photo captured the enchantment of the forests - but you really need to be there to become enveloped in the beauty.
See those funny skirts under our Personal Floatation Devices - they stretch around the opening in the kayak to help keep you dry - somewhat!
